getChartPulse is a personal project built and operated by one person (not a company). This page describes exactly what
the site collects and why, in plain language — no legal boilerplate you can't verify against what the code actually does.
What we collect
Email address — only if you subscribe for STRONG BUY alerts or log in to "My Portfolio & Watchlist." Confirmed via a double opt-in link before anything is stored as active.
Symbols you add to My Portfolio or My Watchlist — stock tickers you choose to track, tied to your email, so we can show your own ratings and correlation view, and send you alerts on them. Portfolio symbols alert on both BUY and SELL zone changes (since you hold them); Watchlist symbols alert only on a new STRONG BUY (since you don't).
A login session cookie — set only after you click a login link or enter a login code, so you stay signed in. It's not used for tracking or advertising.
Standard web server logs (IP address, request timing) — kept briefly by our hosting provider for abuse prevention (e.g. rate-limiting repeated requests), not tied to your identity beyond that.
We do not collect passwords (there aren't any — login is via emailed link/code only), payment information, or any financial account details.
What we don't do
We don't sell, rent, or share your email, portfolio, or watchlist data with advertisers or data brokers.
We don't use tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or ad networks.
We don't look at your portfolio or watchlist symbols for anything other than showing them back to you and alerting you on them.
Who else touches this data
A few third-party services process data on our behalf, strictly to run the site:
Resend — sends the emails (alerts, login links, confirmations).
Neon (Postgres) — stores subscriber emails, portfolio and watchlist symbols, and login sessions.
Render — hosts the application itself.
Yahoo Finance / Finnhub — provide the price, chart, and fundamentals data shown on the site (Finnhub is used for faster live quotes on US-listed symbols; Yahoo Finance for everything else, including all historical chart data). We don't send them any information about you.
None of these are permitted to use your data for their own purposes beyond providing the service to us.
How to delete your data
Every alert email has an unsubscribe link that immediately removes your email from our subscriber list. To also delete your saved portfolio or watchlist symbols, or login history, or if you have any other request, reply to any alert email or reach out to Shawn Tan — there's no support team, just the person who built this.
